1. Who we are

Solar Archive (the “Service”) is operated by Solar Archive (operated by Chris Gilly) (“we”, “us”, “our”). Contact: gillygumption@gmail.com.

2. Acceptance

By using the Service or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Refund & Returns Policy, and our Shipping Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. The Service

The Service lets you customise prints derived from NASA / Solar Dynamics Observatory imagery and place orders fulfilled by Printify, with payment processed through Shopify. Solar imagery is in the public domain (NASA SDO); our editor + integration are proprietary.

4. Your account / order

You do not need an account to browse. To purchase, you must provide an accurate shipping address, contact email, and valid payment method to Shopify. You are responsible for keeping your contact details current so we can deliver.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

The underlying solar imagery is in the public domain (NASA / SDO / AIA). When you add a text overlay, custom date, crop, or other editorial element:

7. Pricing, taxes, currency

Prices are shown in US dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated. We ship to the United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. Sales tax, VAT, or GST/HST is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address. Duties and customs charges (where applicable for cross-border orders) are your responsibility.

8. Order processing & fulfilment

Orders are fulfilled by Printify on a print-on-demand basis. Typical fulfilment is 2–7 business days; shipping times vary by destination. See Shipping Policy. We are not responsible for delivery delays caused by Printify, carriers, or customs.

9. Refunds & returns

See Refund & Returns Policy. Because each print is made to order, change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Defective items + carrier damage are replaced or refunded.

10. Intellectual property

The Service’s software, design, and original content are owned by Solar Archive (operated by Chris Gilly) or licensed to us. The Service includes solar imagery from NASA / SDO, which is in the public domain and used courtesy of NASA. Our use does not imply endorsement by NASA or its science teams.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on Shopify (payments + storefront), Printify (fulfilment), Render (hosting), Helioviewer (preview imagery), the Joint Science Operations Center / Virtual Solar Observatory (HQ science data), Google Analytics 4 (analytics), and Sentry (error reporting). Their terms apply to your interactions with them.

12. Beta / Limited service warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation). We make no guarantee of continuous availability; backend maintenance may cause downtime.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from or related to your use of the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the order at issue or (b) USD $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, lost profits, or lost data.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Solar Archive (operated by Chris Gilly), its affiliates, and its suppliers from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful or infringing use of the Service.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Colorado, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Boulder County, Colorado. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

16. Changes

We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version here. Material changes take effect 14 days after posting. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in full force.
